2021 was a record year for the KWH Group
The year of 2021 was time of strong growth. Turnover and operating profit reached their highest level ever in the KWH Group’s history.
We support relief efforts in Ukraine
The KWH Group and our four divisions Mirka, KWH Logistics, KWH Freeze and Prevex donate a total of € 25,000 to support various relief efforts in war-torn Ukraine. Most go to the Finnish Red Cross (FRK). Support is also given to Nada Nord ra, which arranges bus transports from Poland to Pietarsaari, Finland for women and children fleeing Ukraine.

The KWH Group is one of Finland’s Strongest companies according to a credit classification by Suomen Asiakastieto. Therefore, we have been granted the Strongest in Finland Platinum certificate with the best AAA rating.
The KWH Group supports universities
The KWH Group has donated Åbo Akademi university and Svenska Handelshögskolan (Hanken) university both EUR 10 000 to their funding campaigns. They both have campuses in Vaasa. Hanken’s donation is for the university in general and Åbo Akademi’s donation is allocated to technics.
The KWH Group is Finland’s 120th largest company in terms of turnover
In this year’s Talouselämä 500 survey, the KWH Group is the 120th largest company in Finland in terms of turnover. Our ranking has improved with one place since a year ago. Among others, Valmet Automotive and Schenker were placed after us. Among family businesses, we are ranked 14th largest in terms of turnover.
The KWH Group is renewing its Group structure
The KWH Group is restructuring the KWH Logistics division. Fr.o.m. 1.6.2021, KWH Freeze and KWH Logistics will become two separate and independent core divisions.
Covid 19 -pandemic caused surprises in KWH Group’s result
The KWH Group was also hit hard by the Covid 19 -pandemic in the Spring 2020, but the situation improved sharply towards the end of the year. After the crash in the spring, our operations recovered strongly, operating profit was better than last year, and sales fell only by two per cent.
The entire KWH Group has switched to renewable electricity in Finland
From this year on The KWH Group buys Guarantees of Origin (GOs) for electricity. It guarantees that all the electricity used by our Finnish subsidiaries are produced with hydropower. The guarantees cover all the electricity used since the beginning of 2021.
KWH Logistics will have a new Head of Division in the Spring
The current Head of Division of KWH Logistics and CEO of Oy Backman-Trummer Ab, Hannu Uusi-Pohjola, will move forward into retirement as of 1.5.2021. Forestry engineer, MBA Joakim Laxåback has been appointed his successor.
