KWH Freeze Celebrates 60 Years This Year

KWH Group’s coolest subsidiary, KWH Freeze, is Finland’s leading provider of frozen storage services. For six decades, it has safeguarded the cold chain, investing in quality, technology, and sustainable development.

KWH Freeze’s history is closely linked with Oy Keppo Ab, which in the 1960s was the world’s largest fur producer, based in Ostrobothnia. KWH Freeze’s predecessor, Etelän Jää – Söder Is, was founded in 1965 to provide frozen storage for the frozen feed used in Keppo’s fur production.

Later, fur production was discontinued, and Keppo merged with Wiik & Höglund to form the KWH Group. KWH Group acquired KWH Freeze in 1986. In 2025, the company marks its 60th anniversary.

Peter Lång, Head of the KWH Freeze business group and the company’s long-time CEO, looks back on the years with satisfaction.

– There have been major leaps in operations, either through significant investments or when large customer operations have been transferred under our care. It’s been rewarding to see how the entire organization has grown and how our expertise has developed over the years, while also being able to meet ever-increasing customer and regulatory demands across all areas.
