KWH Logistics converts heavy machinery to electric

Our division KWH Logistics is among the first in line participating in a development project where they convert the existing equipment from diesel to electric. The converting process starts with changing the power line of the equipment into a new one and continues by utilizing every part that is possible.

Työkoneiden akkuja lähikuvassa.The exchanged parts of the diesel engine and transmissions will be used as spare parts for existing machinery. At the first stage they convert truck and pulling machinery that operate in the port and factory areas.

KWH Logistics has an updated sustainability program and this project performs excellently according to the environmental goals that are in the program. With the experience of the initial pilot phase they can test the use of the power line and increase the use of it also to other heavy machinery besides trucks.

According to EU’s emissions reduction target the CO2 emissions should be reduced at least 30 % from the existing by 2030. The transportation industry that uses a lot of heavy machinery, keeping up with the target schedule would require to promptly invest into new machinery and replace the existing ones.
